How the Battle for Earth Began
Chosen Kin Origins The Apok and the 9 Realms - Part 1
For eons the Apok have been the guardians of the nine realms. The peace accords, under the rule of the Apok, have held for tens of thousands of years. Each realm consists of a single planet where the dominant species ensures protection over their respective planet's resources. Planet Earth resides in the ninth realm, the newest of the realms after the great wars, and is governed by a species known as humans. Humans, according to the elder Apok leader Kal, have continued down a self destructive path as they have evolved over the last five thousand years. In fact, the Apok Ancestral Council, has kept a watchful eye on the human species as the birth of their modern civilizations, beginning with the birth of Mesopotamia, have given rise to war, famine, death and the decimation of Earth's resources. Humans will destroy themselves, and planet earth along with them.
Kal, the eldest of the Apok and the defacto leader of the Apok Ancestral Council, held fast to the declarations of the Crenok Decree put forth by The Ancient Ones. The decree declares that the Apok, protectors of the nine realms, must under no circumstances interfere with the governing of the ruling species so long as the ruling species pose no threat to the survival of the inhabited planet or the 9 realms. This was not the case with the human species. Earth would soon fall at the hands of the humans and if the council failed to intervene and save earth, the remaining eight realms would follow. The Crenok Decree held that a universal energy connected the nine realms and if one realm fell, then all would cease to exist.
The Crenok Decree has been followed unquestionably by the Apok since its inception many millennium ago. However, recently - unbeknownst to the Apok Ancestral Council - a faction of renegade Apok secretly began to challenge the belief system and laws of the ruling Apok. They soon plotted their next move... being that they no longer felt compelled to remain under the rule of the Ancestral Council and since earth will continue to deteriorate at the hands of the technologically inferior humans, perhaps earth should be theirs. The ruling humans would pose no challenge. Now known as the Amoku, there numbers grew and there intentions were made known to the ruling council. They were denied, and soon a rebellion was born. The ruling council easily quashed the rebellion and order was gradually restored.
War is a game of deceit and distractions, for the Amaku Rebels the rebellion was merely a distraction, a means to an end. To evolve some must die and sacrifices must be made. As the Ancestral Council shifted focus and resources to quell the rebellion, a handful of Amaku Rebels made their way to earth during the chaos. Among them a radicalized shapeshifter named Nari. Shapeshifters are rare among the Apok and their talents highly sought after resulting in guaranteed placement in Apok societies highest positions, but Nari was a rebel and she was born to rule - not be ruled.
Upon learning of the Amaku Rebels treasonous acts the Ancestral Council sent a trio of highly trained demigod warriors known as Tekal to earth to bring the Amaku Rebels to justice, his only daughter, Jor Ran, among them. As suspected, the rebels were easily apprehended and brought to justice all save one - Nari. The shapeshifter now walked among humankind, undetected. She would soon regroup her forces and one day in the near future earth would fall under her rule and the nine realms would again be at war.
